Our fascination to shape natural materials into elegant, beautiful forms is almost as old as civilization. Charles Miano has designed and collaborated with wood artisans to bring the classic wood palette back to use for artists of today. After many requests from students, he has decided to make this hand crafted, one of a kind palette available to artists around the world.
Miano crafted this palette for his personal use in order to achieve a perfect fit for his painting style. He has always had a love for the classical palette but could never quite find the right one from modern manufacturers. As many artists have experienced, he was always in need of more mixing space from a palette that could be both held or layed down flat when painting.
Aptly named “Mostro” or “Monster” in Italian, this classical kidney shaped wooden palette is the largest handheld palette available online. Surprisingly light for its size, with no need for a counterweight, The Mostro can be used both held in the arm or rested safely flat on a taboret. Miano Mostro™ is made with durable, lightweight, sanded oak wood which ranges 30 inches wide by 20 inches at its apex. It features a lovely thumb and hand hold design with its large classical kidney shape. Just as no two trees have the same pattern, each palette’s grain is truly unique and carries its own character. Just as with fine furniture, It comes beautifully stained and oiled with linseed, ready to start to build its natural patina with care over time.
Reminiscent of the great masters palettes of old, no other palette carries the style and gusto of the magnificent Miano Mostro™ Palette!
